History Channel Stands By Pawn Stars Cast After Shocking Comments

PawnStars

Las Vegas, Nevada. December, 21 2013

The History Channel is standing behind the cast of its hit show Pawn Stars after they revealed some shocking opinions based on their biblical beliefs on a recent telethon for Vegas PBS over the weekend.

Rick “The Old Man” Harrison was quoted as saying, “When my family goes to church, the women know to keep their mouths shut. That’s no place for them to discuss what they cooked for dinner throughout the week or about who knocked up a Kardashian lately. It’s a place for the Word Of God and not a place for the garbage that is conjured up in the mind of a female and somehow makes it out of her mouth. It’s a solid policy.”

Mr. Harrison is apparently paraphrasing from 1 Corinthians 14:34-35 which says, “Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.” Out of everything in The Bible, this seems to be the one value that the family holds close to heart.

The rest of the family has rallied and are standing by the patriarch’s side with his son Rick Harrison, Jr. stating, “He’s right. The Word Of God has said it and we implement it in our daily lives. Why do you think our wives and daughters never appear on the show? When men are at work, there’s very little room for that type of nagging. It’s the same reason that we had to get rid of Olivia, despite what the network wanted. Now we don’t have to hear about her cramps and crossfit schedule.”

Oh there’s more.

“When a woman comes in to sell us something or put it up for pawn, we take every possible precaution to make sure either her husband or designated male guardian has given his permission for her to take part in such a transaction,” says Corey, the youngest member of the family business. “We’ve also kicked out Siegfried of Siegfried and Roy once before. We didn’t need him in here grossing out the customers.”

Despite these statements, which most would consider beyond offensive, and strong protests from women’s rights groups like NOW and The Global Fund For Women, History Channel Senior Vice President of Programming Strategy, Peter Gaffney, is standing by his guys. “The gentlemen on Pawn Stars have every right to state their beliefs. First Amendment, right? We have had a wonderful working relationship with the guys on the show over the years and we would like it to continue. …Besides, did you see what happened to A&E after the Duck Dynasty fiasco? Those Christians have more of a cult influence than the Scientologists. That’s not something we want to mess with. It’s just too bad that these women’s rights groups can’t take a cue from the men on the show and just keep their mouths shut.”

The show’s break-out star Chumlee was unavailable to comment on the subject and is quoted as saying, “Like most Christians, I have no intention of reading that huge book, or any book for that matter.”

None of the female members of the family were allowed to comment.
